All is intimate 2021

Copper and silver electroformed organza and satin.

All is intimate refers to the invisible fabric of relations we are all inhered within. The works embody the phenomenon that being is a process of intimate responsiveness with the lives and entities around us we often consider to be ‘other’. They were created using the growing processes of electroforming copper into textiles, where copper grows incrementally through the fabric fibres, so that two normally distinct materials - a metal from the earth and a humanly synthesised textile - mesh together to become something new. The copper was then highlighted with silver through further electroplating processes. The works developed without a pre-ordained sense of design in mind. Each component of the pieces was made intuitively in response to the one before, with the group accruing as a slowly grown ecology of materials and forms.
